Flaming Gorge Reservoir

Utah

This is Utah's most prized Lake Trout fishery and may be considered one of the best in the west for big lakers. It can be tough fishing here, but the reward is intense. Many lakers over 40 and even 50 pounds are caught here pretty regularly. A chance at a trophy is great here and is the main reason many anglers fish here so much. On another note, Kokanee Salmon are prolific here and regularly stocked. They grow fast and large here, providing another big attraction for anglers. These make a great dish and they fight really well, and are easily guided or self guided too. They can also be a great day saver if you're struggling with the big macs. There is a solid Rainbow Trout fishery here too. Tons of sizable rainbow and cutthroat trout get caught here all year long and are readily available, as well as lake trout pups, and the occasional big brown trout. Smallmouth Bass fishing is still good here, despite some of the decline as of late. There are still a lot of 3 lb bass caught here and they can make for a great summer day of fishing on a beautiful piece of nature.
