Description

Kokanee Salmon are a freshwater Sockeye Salmon. They are normally a stocked fish species used especially for sport. They are very popular and tasty, and have lots of energy for a fight! They are bright silver with dark backs during most of their life, but, like a Sockeye, when they are ready to spawn, they begin to morph into a deep red colored fish with black, toothy heads!

Habitat

Deep, cold lakes and reservoirs
