Lake Minnetonka

Lake Minnetonka is Minnesota's 9th largest lake. Which for a place like Minnesota is impressive! It has so many types of fish, but for starters, it has good Muskie, lots of Pike, Walleye, lots of panfish including red ear sunfish, bluegill, green sunfish, Crappie, Yellow Perch, and it has big fat Largemouth Bass. There are great guide options here and there are a few shore and DIY options too, although access is not the easiest here for shore anglers. Spring is a great time to fish this lake, near the bass opener. But all year long it produces great fishing.

Lake Vermillion

Vermillion is a Muskie machine. According to an in fisherman article, it ranks as a top muskie destination in the world. Estimations based on the same article conclude that 15% of the Muskies in this lake are over 50 inches. Soak that in for a moment and tell me you don't want to go fish Vermillion for a shot at a fish like this!

Of course this lake is huge, and it's silly not to mention the good fishing opportunities for Walleye, Smallmouth Bass and Pike too. All of which grow big and are numerous here. It's truly a great place to fish.

Mille Lacs Lake

Mille Lacs Lake is one of the most prolific Walleye fisheries in the whole world. This is due to the fact that the state has good regulations for managing good Walleye numbers and also because of the forage that exists in the lake. Mille Lacs also supports really big Muskie, and is known as one of the best Muskie fisheries in the state as well. It also has a good population of Smallmouth Bass.

If you are going to do any kind of fishing in Minnesota, this lake needs to be at the top of your list. 40 fish days are not uncommon! All you need is a slip bobber, a leech and a boat!
