Oncorhynchus mykiss
Also known as: rainbow trout, steelhead, redband trout
Golden rainbow trout is a color variant of the rainbow trout, not a naturally occurring separate species. It was developed through selective breeding from a single golden-colored mutant discovered in West Virginia in 1954. As a hatchery-produced fish, it's stocked in lakes and streams throughout North America.
